My struggles with why I am eating what I am eating and when I am eating it have perplexed me for quite some time. I recently came across a book that was mentioned on a graduate WLS group that I am a member of and when I read the book it really made sense. The books is Life is Hard, Food is Easy by Linda Spangle, R.N., .MA. Her site is located at www.foodiseasy.com and she has a second book with a 100 day plan available too.
Part of my process after reading this book was to design myself a refrigerator magnet with the word "It's NOT in here!" on it. It is about 10 inches by 4 inches, so there is NO missing it. It actually helps!! I am finding that I am doing less non-thinking scrounging for food and that I have really tightened up on what I am eating. I am keeping the nasty hunger causing carbs out of my diet as much as possible and trying to make my choices much healthier. I do not for a minute expect to do this without relapses, but I think that what I have learned thus far has helped me to put more thought into why I am looking for something to put in my face. In the process of this, I have dropped about 1 1/2 pounds in the last couple weeks. Remember my body wants to be obese in the worst way. So, I am going to have to work for it, every single ounce of it. I can do my part by not eating junk, mindless snacking crap. I have the most boring pantry in the world. If I have guests they will have to bring their own snacks. I am not going to stock junk food.
I will soon be going back through the book a second time to do her exercises and I will be using her 100 day book as well. I cannot recommend a book more highly. If you are truly tired of eating when you are not hungry and making lousy choices this book is the best I have ever seen. I actually read it completely cover to cover and I did not glaze over as I usually do with similar self-help books. I wish to make it clear that I am not connected with the author in any way, except as a woman who wishes to live her life in a much healthier way. I will be updating this page as I continue my journey. For me the goal is to be healthy mentally and physically. If weight loss happens as a result, I will be thrilled.
