The litter at five weeks.  Aren't they just the cutest?!!  Little Dot is in the middle.

The litter is out of Tri Sarah Top and sired by Buzz Lightyear of HC (Hampton Cove).  The lines go back on Fire Mountain breeding.
Dot is 3 weeks old in this photo.
Dot's spots
Dot's first 'new  home' photos.  She is 8 weeks old and weighs 3 pounds 6 ounces.  She has already growled at the bigger dogs in the house.  Guess we know who is going to be ruling the roost.  She LOVES snuggling in my arms and that is just what I wanted.
I have wanted a Rat Terrier for several years now, but was waiting until my older dogs passed.  However, I recently had the fun of puppy sitting for our neighbors just before they moved out and fell in love with their little chihuahua mix named Bear.  So, the decision was made to not wait and to add my Rat Terrier to the family now.

Part of my history is that my grandmother raised the RTs when I was a child in the late 1950s and I always loved her little dogs.  Now I finally have my own.  What a delightful breed it is and I look forward to many years with little Dot.
Dot is enjoying her teddy bear.  Just wait until she discovers that she can make it squeak.

She did very well on her first night with us.  We got up a 12 a.m. and 4 a.m., but she settled down with a small amount of assurance and slept the rest of the night.

I am impressed with the socialization that Dot received at her breeder's home.  Effort was made to have her and her littermates handled by children, the husband and the breeder herself.  All are part of developing a nicely balanced puppy that can go to its new home with confidence and bond with its new life-partners.  Also, part of my decision about purchasing Dot was the temperament of her mother, which was outstanding.  All signs bode well for a very nice life long doggy friend for me.
Dot is having fun now.  She is feeling very much at home.  Murphy does not realize that his little fun puppy will soon be his torment.  His ears are perfect for a puppy to grab and tug on.  As you can tell they are having a ball!!  I like the shot of her by the garden hose because it gives a good perspective to her size.  Below we see Dot with Roper (the blue Australian Cattle Dog) and Murphy.  Also, part of Savannah (the red Australian Cattle Dog) in the second photo.  Their tails are perfect puppy grab toys.  Roper is healing a broken toe nail and I am trying to keep the foot wrapped.  I love the equine vet wrap and now if I can just keep Roper from removing it.  He has been threatened with a collar if bitter apple does not work.
